COSMOS.PRESS - 2023 RECAP
Well we made it through year two - yay!
After departing from Canada early this year, we settled back into the US and we channeled our stream of higher conscious to explore unique individuals on Cosmos. We had our first string of YouTube interviews featuring the internet's busiest music nerd, Anthony Fantano, philosopher Sisyphus55, and brutal alt-music critics Neo Punk FM. Our second wave of YouTube interviews included the Therapy Gecko, Path Reacts, onlysmallbits, and the NFR Podcast.
On to music, our article strategy this year was to balance critically acclaimed artists with outsider artists. We interviewed o of the most legendary outsider artists in music, Lil Ugly Mane. Balancing that with artists who critics have hailed, including McKinley Dixon, Black Country New Road, Lilien Rosarian, Benny Sings, and many more. We expanded our reach outside of North American PR agencies, featuring artists from agencies across the globe!
Breaking into more mainstream features was a goal for this year. Last year, we laid the foundation covering for artists like The Weeknd, Zedd, and Earl Sweatshirt. This year, we covered some fantastic shows, including Daniel Caesar's - Superpowers Tour, Rina Sawayama's - Hold the Girl Tour, King Krule's - Space Heavy Tour, Thundercat's - In Yo Girl's City Tour, and Joji's - Pandemonium Tour.
We were also invited to attend the legendary four-day underground music festival Levitation in Austin, Texas & Tyler the Creator's Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles, rated two of North America's best festivals. We had basically free reign to decide what two festivals (one mainstream & one underground) to visit this year for Cosmos, and we loved both of them.
Some highlights from the festivals included capturing Tyler the Creator dual-wielding a flame thrower during NEW MAGIC WAND, interviewing indie pop icons Beach Fossils & Cuco, and seeing great shows from Yeule, Redveil, and Amyl & The Sniffers.
On the back end of things, we integrated our site with Google Console making it search engine compliant, added Google Analytics, and set up multiple RSS news feeds. Setting up this backend allows us to be less reliant on social media while pulling in substantial online viewership! We crushed our first year of viewership this year.
Launching in 2024, we have our new festival coverage service in collaboration with AMBIVALENCE, to bring more great concerts to you, both domestically and internationally. Festivals interested in this service can contact us (here).
Overall, 2023 was a great year for COSMOS.PRESS and built on the foundation we laid in 2022. Thank you to all of you who take the time to read our articles and share our work.
